Illustrations

I enjoy working with design companies and publishers to create illustrations or images for projects and I can supply the required digital files. If you would like to discuss a new project, please contact me.

Publishing and editorial

For my illustrations I work in linocut and woodcut before scanning the hand-burnished prints and working on them further in Photoshop. In the photo are cover illustrations for Ben Law's books Woodland Craft published by Guild of Master Craftsmen; The Almanac - a seasonal guide to 2019 by Lia Leendertz, published by Octopus Books UK for which I produced 50 illustrations; and one of the illustrations I supplied from April 2015 to December 2017 for Frank Ronan's monthly column in Gardens Illustrated Magazine.

I was commissioned by Jon Hill, Creative Director of The Telegraph, to redraw the newspaper's crest for the 160th anniversary re-design of the paper. The new crest appears in the newspaper every day, on the editorial/letters page.

Commissioned prints

simplepleasures_a-2watchingtheducks_a-2
'Simple pleasures' and 'Watching the ducks' are two designs based on original prints that I was commissioned to make as 'portraits' of private gardens. The clients agreed that I could use the designs for greetings cards. A one-off print is a labour intensive project, so this makes the print much more affordable. Please contact me if you are interested in commissioning a print.
